All eyes will be looking towards whether Master Minded can make it a hat-trick of wins when he goes to post at 15:20 in the Season Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase.

The Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year old has dominated the 2m chase scene over the last couple of years and at 10/11 best price with Stan James looks a good thing.

However, his last fence blunder in the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury will put some doubt in punters mind but he has jumped round Prestbury Park impeccably before so that should not be a worry. Kalahari King (13/2 William Hill) won impressively last time out in the Blue Square Handicap Chase and is likely to improve even more for the run after a 10-month layoff and Ferdy Murphy’s charge could mark a bit of each way value.

Other interesting contenders are a couple of the Irish runners in Big Zeb (8/1 Bet365) and Golden Silver (33/1 Skybet), with the latter marking a lot more value and could quite easily sneak into the places.

The RSA Chase at 14:40 will be one of the most interesting betting heats of the entire festival with plenty of last season’s impressive hurdlers moving to the larger obstacles. Punchestowns (7/2 William Hill) heads the field for Nicky Henderson and Barry Geraghty.

Last year’s World Hurdle runner-up has breezed through his prep runs going off at short odds and dispatching his rivals with ease but this contest will be far more difficult for the seven-year-old. Henderson’s French import Long Run (5/1 various firms) has been equally impressive in his races this year and with trainer’s son Sam Waley-Cohen in the saddle could continue his unbeaten run.

Diamond Harry (7/1 Ladbrokes) is another unbeaten over fences and could be slightly too big at his current price and with the enigmatic Timmy Murphy onboard could be a decent each-way choice. Of the outsiders I really like the look of Tazbar (25/1 Betfred) who has improved race by race for Keith Reveley and won impressively by 14 lengths last time out in a novices chase at Doncaster.

The Neptune Investment Novices’ Hurdle will see last season’s Champion Bumper third Rite of Passage go off favourite (9/2 William Hill). Dermot Weld’s Irish raider has taken to the hurdling game and if he can jump soundly must look good to take the honours. Other contenders who could push the six-year-old are Reve De Sivola (12/1 Bet365) and Ghizao (25/1 Victor Chandler).

The Champion Bumper last year saw Dunguib annihilate the field and go on to bigger and better things, so can a horse this year produce an equally impressive performance. Elegant Concorde (7/1 William Hill) sits favourite for Dermot Weld and this horse has contracted in price dramatically in recent weeks coming from 16/1 and this talking money could quite possibly be a sign that there will be another Irish-trained winner.

Along with these mouth-watering contests the seven race card is rounded off with the 4m National Hunt Steeple Chase which Inchidaly Rock (4/1 Betfair) is going to take a lot of beating, There are also two tricky handicap hurdles with the Coral Cup and Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle to round off the spectacle.
